REFUSED TO LOAD WOOL
MANY WATERSIDERS DISMISSED OPPOSITION TO DOUBLE DUMPING (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 6. More than 100 watersiders were dismissed by the Unjon Steam Ship Company to-day for refusing to load double dumped wool on the steamer, Rembrandt at Woolloomooloo. Loading ceased also on the Linfield Victory and the Aldabi. which were due to sail for San Francisco and the Continent respectively to-morrow. At the Rembrandt the men loaded some single bales, but refused when they came to the double bales. Their refusal is contrary to the direction given by the Stevedoring Commission last Friday.
From to-day, watersiders at all Australian wool ports decided to refuse to load any double dumped bales until told of the date on which this system of baling would be discontinued.
