After being hopelessly boxed in soon after the start, Abbeville shot through an opening on the rails to win the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm, Brisbane, yesterday. Because of a slight injury to. his heel during training and because he drew an outside barrier position. Abbeville’s chances were not considered bright. Maaleesh led for some distance, but jumped a 'Crossing about a furlong from home. The second horse, High Rank, is 10 years old and has been at. the stud for two seasons.
