S.WIFT QUARRY WINS HANDICAP (PA) AUCKLAND, May 5. The second day of the Avondale Jockey Club’s autumn meeting was held at Ellerslie yesterday. The weather was fine early, but turned to rain later. (Rec. 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 6. The main race at Randwick, the Tattersall’s Club Handicap, provided a minor sensation When Lady Marie beat the favourite, Silver Link, easily. Darby MUnro, who did not have the mount yesterday, but Who rode her a- week earlier, Was hotly criticised by punters for his riding of the filly. Last week Lady Marie, Who the previous week had easily won the City Handicap, ran eighth in the Final Handicap. . QUEENSLAND MEETING

After being hopelessly boxed in soon after the start, Abbeville shot through an opening on the rails to win the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm, Brisbane, yesterday. Because of a slight injury to. his heel during training and because he drew an outside barrier position. Abbeville’s chances were not considered bright. Maaleesh led for some distance, but jumped a 'Crossing about a furlong from home. The second horse, High Rank, is 10 years old and has been at. the stud for two seasons.
