HUNTING CHARM WINS CUP (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, May 5. The Wairio Jockey Club held a record meeting at Invercargill on Saturday, its first meeting since 1941. The weather was fine, the attendance large, and the track in good order but slow. The totalisator handled £33,940 10s compared with £6296 10s when the meeting was held at Wairio in 1941. After the running of the Wairio Cup, W. R. Cruickshank, the Owner of Sing Sing, who was placed second, protested against the judge’s placings of the first two horses. After hearing evidence the Judicial committee decided, to allow the judge’s placings to stand and to refund Cruickshank’s deposit of £2.
