Opossum Industry.—The total number of opossum skins stamped in the Westland district for the 1945 season was 12.818, as agaihst 32.096 stamped in 1944, a record season. The trapping of oppssums has developed into a very profitable industry in the Westland district, and each year it provides lucrative employment to many during the winter months. The increase ih reveilue of £56 6s 9d was dUe to the record seeson in 1944.
