RADIO RECORDINGS

Sir,—l experienced the great pleasure of listening to John McCormack's glorious tenor voice at five of his concerts ip Melbourne. Listening in to 2YA. Wellington, on Wednesday evening, I heard a record of that beautiful Irish song the "Rose of Tralee," with which the great tenor so often thrilled those who had the good fortune to hear him sing it. It was a great disappointment to me. Instead of hearing an exquisite rendering by John McCormack; the tehor, it was a miserable mournful exhibition in a baritone key. The record was run much too slow and so spoiled the work of the artist. I have hoted the same mistake before. May we have John es We have loved him, as a tenor, and as we have all known him, and not as a baritone whom nobody knows?—Yours, etc., , C. FOTTRfcLL. May 2. 1946.
