MARKETING OF EGGS
COMMITTEE WILL NOT BE PERMANENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 5. Referring to the report on the Government’s post-war egg-marketing pokey, the Minister of Marketing (the Hon. B. Roberts) said yesterday that it was incorrect that the committee which had been set up might remain in operation permanently. “I have set up (as on many fcrevious occasions) a departmental committee, with which are associated persons interested in egg marketing, to report direct to me as to recommendations for the post-wet marketing of eggs.” said Mr Roberts. “There is no possibility of this committee being permanent, and its scope will be in regard to eggs and egg pulp only—not table poultry. As soon as the committee has completed its report, it will disband.”
The Minister added that the committee had been set up in an advisory capacity to him. It comprised members of the Poultry Board and six others.
