TYPOGRAPHICAL DISPUTE
—— STATEMENT BY MINISTER ** The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON, May 3. The Government has intervened in the dispute between the Typographical Union and the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association following stop-work meetings to-day among members of the union employed in the Wellington, Auckland, and Dunedin evening newspapers. The Acting-Minister of Lapour (the Hon. J. O’Brien) stated this evening that the dispute had been before a Conciliation Council but had not been settled. The meeting to-day was to hear a report from the union’s representatives at the meeting of the Conciliation Council. He had decided to appoint a tribunal under the Strike and Lock-Out Emergency Regulations to deal with the dispute.
