CLOTHING FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS
Sir,—The answer given by Mr J. Moore to my first letter on this subject was typical. Whether or not it was accurate is open to discussion, as most of the servicemen now returning from overseas were in Flew Zealand when early furlough drafts returned. To say the position is no worse than in July, 1943. even if this were true, is a statement that reflects no credit on the Ministry of Supply. However, a considerable portion of blame rests with the public, who have allowed the situation to deteriorate to its present critical situation. My thanks to all you people on the home “front” who clothed yourselvpS and allowed your representatives in Parliament so to control clothing that the men who deserve it are left without. Well done New Zealand—returned soldiers are proud of your selfishness.—Yours, etc., TATTERS. March 1, 1946.
