Steele. Mr R. Wallwork, Mr P. G. Bamford,'who are retiring,' -;■-; and to Mr'T. M. Stanton and Mr K. B.: : : Cumberland, who are leaving the college for other posts. Professor Steele: ; has held the Chair of Mechanical Engineering since 1923 and, with one , short interval, has been on the staff ; of the Engineering School since 1805, . the year of his graduation. Mr Bamford, also with one short interval, has been a member of the Engineering School staff since 1911. Mr Wallworft has for 17 years been director of.theCanterbury School of Art. Mr Stanton, senior lecturer in Civil Engineering, '- will enter private practice. Mr Cumberland, senior lecturer in Geo- ; graphy, has been appointed to Auckland University College, where he will - become lecturer-in-charge of a newly : established Department of Geography- • The Rector of the college, Professor- 1 A. H. Tocker, for the staff, and Mr J. H. E. Schroder, chairman, for the council, expressed regret for the ending of long and valuable working associations and wished each of the guests all happiness, whether in their new leisure or in their new professional sphere. More specific tributes were paid to them by Professor P. H. Powell and Acting-Professor G. G. Calt6& Pf ofe ssor G. Jobberns, and Dr. «• .ffignt.
