BUILDING MOUNTAIN HUTS
PARTS TO BE DROPPED BY AIRCRAFT

I 1 ild f Li i e Department, which is a branch of the Internal Affairs . ;e----partment, will inaugurate an exnerimenl soon in the erection of a prefabricated hut in an avalanche clearmg in the Tararua Range as part of Us deer-cullmg, scheme. If successful it will be followed by the erection of 60 other huts in inaccessible parts of both islands. A feature of the experiment will be the dropping of huts by parachute. Major G. F. Yerex, head of the department, said that the huts, which would be known as laminated huts from the construction of 4ft-iong partitions made of plywood with an exterior of galvanised steel, would be delivered on selected sites by aircraft ot the aerodrome branch of the Works Department.
Deer shooters employed by the department will be trained in their erection. The shooters will be supplied by parachute With ammunition, stores and equipment.
