BEER DRINKING AT HOSPITAL

Sir—l wish to reply to “Visitor's” letter concerning the drinking of beer by former servicemen patients of the Christchurch Hospital. Surely men who have given much foy their country are entitled to partake of a little beer without the interference of those few people who refuse to understand or appreciate just how much their boys have done for this fair land. I myself, who arrived in hospital direct from a transport, am not likely to see my home for some considerable time, and I find a httle pleasure in drinking a glass of beer, which is beneficial to my health. ,ihe beer is not consumed in vast quantities, only sufficient being consumed to encourage the appetite.— Yours, etc..
