DUKE OF WINDSOR IN US.

To Visit England Next Month FUTURE PLANS UNCERTAIN (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 19. The Duke of Windsor has arrived in Washington on a private visit. He will leave for Canada later to-day. His Royal Highness said he expected to confer with the King and Mr Churchill in August. The Duchess would accompany him to England. The Duke shook his head wheri asked if he might be appointed GovernorGeneral of Canada, but admitted that he would accept the post if it were offered. He added that he and the Duchess, after visiting England, would go on to France, “to look after some property there.” The Duke lunched with a group of United States senators and high Government officials, Mr Hugh Fulton, one of President TVuman’s aides-de-camp, arranged the function. The Duke of Windsor told reporters that his interest in American post-war plans was the reason for*his visit. He said he planned to go abroad alter the war. Asked where, he replied: “Your guess i£ as good as mine. I have absolutely no idea.”
