VITAMINS

Sir, —One of the best results of the Social Security Act and “free” medicine (paid for in advance by taxation) is that vitamins necessary sate for lack of eggs, milk, green vegetables, and citrus fruits are available to all who need them. Vitamins are so new that we. are only now learning how to use them; and it will be some years before their value in the prevention of disease can be assessed with accuracy. The very fact that numbers of patients taking vitamins experience a sense of/well-being and improved health and come back again and again for another month’s supply is some indication of their value and usefulness. My own hope is that Increased consumption of vitamins will result in a few years’ time in less gruesome cancer statistics.—Yours, etc., MEDICUS. June 25. 1945.
