MRS CHURCHILL’S VISIT TO RUSSIA

(B O W.) RUGBY. May 29. Mrs Churchill, in a comprehensive survey of her recent visit to Russia as chairwoman of the British Red Cross Aid to Russia Fund, says the fund now totals more than £7,000,000. She described hOw, when she met Mr Stalin, she handed him a gold fountain pen from the Prime Minister as a souvenir of their meetings during the war. “My husband wishes me to express the hope that you will write him many friendly messages with it,” Mrs Churchill told Mr Stalin. She added that as she took a farewell look at Moscow she prayed; “May difficulties and misunderstandings pass and may friendship remain.” Just before she left Moscow Mrs Churchill was presented with a diamond ring. “We ask that you accept this ring as a token of eternal friendship,” said Mrs Molotov (wife of the Soviet Foreign Minister). “May the relations between our two countries be as bright, pure, and lasting as this stone.”
