OBITUARY
MR JOHN WARD “ The Press ’ Special Service DUNEDIN, April 20. Mr John Ward, whose death occurred yesterday, was well known in commercial circles in Dunedin as secretary of Ross and Glendining, Ltd., a position which he had filled for the last five years, Mr Ward was born in Sunderland, North England, where he was educated, and after being employed there for only a few weeks, he joined a ship as a youth of about 17 years and worked his passage to Wellington. Soon after arriving there he secured a position as invoice clerk with Macky, Logan, and Caldwell, Ltd., and was with this firm for a great many years. In 1925 he joined Ross and Glendining, Ltd., at Auckland, eventually holding tfie position of assistant manager. In 1939 he was appointed secretary of the company. He leaves a widow and two sons, Aircraftman Neville Ward, who is at present serving in the R.N.Z.A.F. at Auckland, and Captain Clifford Ward, who has been serving in Egypt.
