RELATIONS WITH ARGENTINA
BRITAIN AND U.S. SAID TO DIFFER (Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Sept. 19. “Britain has made it clear that she, requires Argentine meat to feed her forces and civilians now, and in connexion with European reconstruction, because the Dominions cannot nearly meet her requirements,” says the Washington correspondent of the “New York Times.” “Britain accordingly will not subscribe to a complete break with Argentina, and although she is not renewing her meat agreement for a year, she has decided to continue it on a day-to-day basis. _ “Differences thus, exist between British and American policy. Americans particularly the Secretary of State (Mr Cordell Hull) condemn the Argentine Government as pro-Fascist. The British Foreign Office agrees with America in disliking the Argentine regime, but sees it more as a palace revolution than as a real threat.”
