AVOIDING POST-WAR DEPRESSION
INVESTMENTS CORPORATION SUGGESTED The establishment of an investments corporation by the Government, though not under political control, wss advocated by Mr A. J. Danks, lecturer in economics at Canterbury University College, who was the guest speaker at yesterday’s' luncheon of the Christchurch Businessmen’s Club. The corporation should be set up, he said, as one means of avoiding any possible depression in the post-war years and to provide capital for new enterprises. Capital should be provided for meritorious schemes, as too many worthy ones had failed formerly in New Zealand for such lack of encouragement. , ~ _ , . The guests included the Leader of the Opposition (Mr S. G. Holland, M.P.). ■
