BELGIAN PARLIAMENT TO CHOOSE REGENT
(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 17. The Brussels radio has stated that both Houses of the Belgian Parliament will meet on September 20 to choose a Regent, who is expected to take the oath the following day. £250 for Patriotic Fond.—As a result of five weeks’ effort the sum of £250 has been raised for the patriotic funds by the combined committees of the Riccarton Racecourse Bowling Club and the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Owners’. Trainers’, and Breeders’ Association. A cheque for this amount has been handed to the Paparua County Committee by Mr G. W. Brown, who was honorary secretary for the effort.
