EXPLOSION AND FIRE
NAPIER THEATRE GUTTED (P.A.) NAPIER, June .9. When a cleaner this morning opened the door of the Regent Theatre, which was after the ear&qi&He. of 1931, there was such a terrific .explosion that the flames reached across the street and burnt the paint off the opposite building. The interior of the theatre immediately filled with flames, which were still raging at 11.30. Everything.in the theatre except what was located in the projection box was destroyed. The brigade had -the fire under control by noon. The overhead structural damage was severe, but the shops in front were undamaged.
