OUTBREAKS OF FIRE
A petrol-engine on a saw bench at 15 Short street, Linwood, became hot and caused an outbreak of fire which destroyed the saw-bench, burnt a considerable area of grass, and did minor damage to some stacks of timber, a fence, and a fowlhouse, about 5.30 yesterday afternoon. The fire was brought under control by the Central Fire Brigade. Slight damage was caused to a washhouse at 7 Buffon street, when a fire occurred there yesterday morning. The fire brigade prevented more extensive damage.
