KIWI CONCERT PARTY

Sir,—We have heard a lot about the famous Kiwi Concert Party. In between long and dismal meandermgs by an announcer we even heard a small part of one of their concerts over the air. Why have troops stationed at the larger camps not had the pleasure of seeing this popular concert party? I suggest that the A.E.W.S. “jack-up” something with the party, though I expect the reply will be something like this: “It is regretted that circumstances will not permit arrangements being made,”—Yours, etc.. WHAFOR. November 16, 1943. [The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, says: “The Kiwi Concert Party came to New Zealand on furlough. Members have already surrendered five weeks of their furlough to make a tour of the main cities and towns of the Dominion While I realise that the men in our camps would appreciate a visit from the party, this would only be possible by recalling the members of the party from their well-earned furlough and this. I consider. is not warranted”!
