TRIAL OF COMPANY MANAGER
ACQUITTAL ON ALL BUT TWO CHARGES CP.A.) DUNEDIN. November 26. After a hearing occupying five days, the trial of Stanley Reginald Burns, company director, formerly of Dunedin, on six charges of false pretences and six charges relating to the publication of false balance-sheets, was concluded in the Supreme Court to-night The jury, after a retirement of six and a half hours, found accused guilty on two of the major counts, one in respect of a 1938 balance-sheet and the other in respect of a 1939 balance-sheet. He was found not guilty on all the other counts. The jury retired at 4.48 p.m. and returned at 11.18 p.m. Accused was remanded in custody until Monday for sentence.
