, CHRISTCHURCH CLUB A mixed four-ball bogey match for the A. E. G. Rhodes bowl, played at Shirley on Saturday, resulted in a tie which will be played off later. Results are as follows:—E. J. A. Smith and J. W. McCabe. 2 up. HAGLEY CLUB The semi-finals of the senior championship were played by the Hagley Golf Club on Saturday,’ when L. S. Ayers beat R. D. Johnston, 5 and 4; and C. L. Crowley beat R. V. Gilmour, 2 up. The first match in the semi-final of the junior championship was carried to the twenty-first hole, where A. M. West beat D. E. Orchard, The second match went to the nineteenth hole, where S. Steele beat E. Braggins. The following were the best scores in a stroke aggregate competition;— E. H. Northcroft (19) and J. H. Best cards handed in by members of the Waitiki Golf Club in a medal match played on Saturday were:—A. R. Blank (scr), 69; J. W. Arnold. 84, 10—74; O. Schmidt, 90, 16—74. Blank narrowly missed equalling the course record of 68 established by Bobbie Locke in 1938, and previously equalled by Blank in 1939.

WAIXIKIRI-BURWOOD CLUB The second qualifying round of the Harley Cup was headed by N. Ashbey, 92, 24—68. Those who qualified were: N. Ashbey 140, Mrs L. Haynes 141, F. Beban 145, H. Throp 146, J. Mercer 149, J. Anderson 150, Mrs G. Sinclair 151, and L. Chappell 152.

WAIMAIRI BEACH CLUB A stroke match held in conjunction with the first round of the championships lesulted as follows: M. Kunzle 95, 22—73; P Smith 90, 16—74; W. A. Caldwell 84, 10—74; H. W.’ Walker 97, 23—74. In a Canadian foursome held over 18 holes. L. Hulston and Mrs H. J. McGavock" tied with N. D. Henderson and Miss M. Tobin.

RICHMOND HILL CLUB . A Stableford handicap match played by members of the Richmond Hill Golf Club during the week-end was won by D E Climie (1). with 37 points. Cllmle returned a card with the scratch score for the course (68). L. J. Treleaven (8) scored 30 points. In the third round of the Donnelly Cup, L J. Treleaven (11) beat W. B Owen (12), 4 and 2. In the semi-final D B. Treleaven (13) beat L. J. Treleaven (11), 3 and 2.

WAIMAIRI BEACH LADIES’ CLUB An L.G.U. match played on Saturday resulted in a win for Miss I. Simpson, who reduced her handicap by four, 101, 30—(1 The next'best scores were: Mrs Henderson 105, 31 —74, Miss G. Taylor 106, 32 74 who both reduced their handicaps by one.
