APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE
DECISIONS OF NO. 10A BOARD Several appeals for women called up for service with the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps were decided by the No. 10A Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday, when Mr J. S. Barnett presided. One employer, appealing for a hairdressing trainee, was asked why the appellant, who had seemed keen to go into the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps, when she had lodged her application for service, was not now opposing the appeal. 1 1 think she had the idea that if she didn t apply for the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps she would go into a pickle factory or something,” was the reply. The appeal was adjourned sine die. The following decisions were announced by the board yesterday (all appellants Grade 1 unless otherwise stated);— Alan J. Phillips, farm hand (Miss E. G. Banks), adjourned sine die; Albert James Aston, baker (appellant), adjourned sine die; Alexander Kirner (temporarily qnfit), bootmaker (Suckling Bros., Ltd.), adjourned sine die; Betty Clifton Keig, hairdresser (F. W. J. Murdoch), adjourned sine die; Alan James Wylie, apprentice fitter (P. and D. Duncan, Ltd.), dismissed; Henry Burden Wrigglesworth, fireman (Canterbury University College), dismissed, appellant not to be called before August 31; William Henry G. Brown (temporarily unfit, called for Air Force), presser (E. W. Farrier), adjourned sine die: Arthur Bertram Thorpe, grocer (appellant), held over; E. L. Hensley (A. and T. Burt, Ltd.), appeal for release from Army, dismissed; Jack Edward Renz, woodwork instructor (Canterbury Education Board), adjourned sine die; H. G. Neithe (appellant), release from Air Force, dismissed; Stanley George S. Terry (G. Terry), release from Army, dismissed; Roland S. K. Whitford (Mrs L. M. Whitford), release from Army, held over; D. J. Battersby (T. Cook), release from W.A.A.C. recommended; Phyllis Xta Haussman (H. C. Urlwln, Ltd.), release from W.A.A.C. recommended; Robert Bruce Coe (L. B. Coe), release from Army, reserved; Ray W. Frost’(J. Fleming), release until November 30 recommended; Oswald Alexander Collins (F. L. Collins), release recommended; Trissie Ellen Wenmoth, clerk (Gough, Gough, and Hamer, Ltd.), adjourned sine die; Kate Carswell Nlckolls, domestic (Hotel Stonehurst), adjourned sine die; John Henry A.
