NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS
Sir.—"lt is gratifying to learn from the Hon. C. F. Skinner that “the New Zealander is the greatest desert fighter
in the world.” However, Mr Skinner does not give the name of the “experts" responsible for this statement. I would remind Mr Skinner that “self-praise is no recommendation" and that it should be left to outsiders (or the enemy) to bestow such unstinted praise, in any case. The South Africans, Australians, and Canadians are, without doubt, equallv good soldiers, while the British "regu-
lars” can hold their own with anybody at any time and anywhere. Further, tw English “Tommy" has to stay and the job through, with no chance of W' ing withdrawn as, we learned from ti* papers recently, were our troop“againsl opposition from the author* ities. and to carry out the wishes ,of re people of New Zealand."— Yours, jetp-i OLD SOLDIER August 9. 1943. • ■ : J
