R.S.A. BUILDING PROGRAMME
SPECIAL MEETING ARRANGED REQUIREMENTS AFTER THE WAR The whole building’policy of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association will be reviewed soon at a special meeting of the executive, and a programme for future extensions will be tabled with proposals for financing any new work. Last evening the treasurer (Mr L. E. Owen) said that now was the time to set machinery in motion to meet the expanding requirements of the association and also to provide the greater facilities which ■would be needed after the war. Mr Owen asked the executive to endorse his proposal that he add to the subscription accounts an appeal to members to contribute 5s each to a building fund. “With our membership of 4000 that should bring in mote than £IOOO annually,’’ he said. Additions and alterations (which was the most expensive item) were required to the present premises and there was room on the property in Gloucester street for new buildings. The secretary (Mr E. F. WUlcox) asked if it would be worth while to form a committee to enlist outside support. More office accommodation, new kitchens, and a bigger dining room, and greater recreational rooms were among the requirements, said the president (Mr C. Mlln).
