CHOKED BY PIECE OF STEAK

DEATH FOLLOWS MISHAP (P.A.) WANGANUI. June 13. James Trevarthen Thomas, aged 64. employed at Kiel Warra Station. Hunterville, died to-day when he was choked into unconsciousness by a piece of steak in his throat when having lunch. The steak was removed by the licensee of an hotel, but Thomas was dead when a doctor arrived. Thomas, who was formerly a jockey in the Thames district, is understood to have brothers at Auckland and Thames.
