MISUSE OF PETROL
FARMER FINED £IOO (PA) HASTINGS, June 8. In the Magistrate's Court before Mr J. Miller, S.M., the maximum fine of £IOO, in default three months’ imprisonment. was imposed on George Priest, a farmer, of Pukehou, who was charged with using petrol for a purpose other than that prescribed on his licence. Inspector Robinson, in evidence, said that when defendant’s private car running was checked it was found that excessive mileage had been run for the amount of petrol granted. It was subsequently learned that there had been misuse of petrol by the defendant to the extent of 82 gallons in a little more than three months.
