DAIRY PRODUCTION
Sir, —In view of the searching inquiry into dairy production recently, the annual report of the South Island Dairy Association. Ltd., should be closely studied by interested organisations. Canterbury dairy farmers 'should be considering post-war reconstruction more particularly separated from (he powers conferred on the New Zealand Dairy Board and the Executive Com-
mission of Agriculture. The South Island Dairy Association has been playing the same tune for a long time now, but shuts its eyes to matters that are continually undermining yearround production, which is the very basis of successful dairying within New Zealand, and without which successful overseas marketing is handicapped. For example: Tinned cream of 2.3 per cent, butlcr-fa; cement. ir ■quarter pint containc s, is being retailed at 3d. in competition with Ires cream of 38 per cent, butler-iat. sold retail at 6d.—Yburs. etc., H. BLISS. Heathcote, May 13, 1943.
