LET US PRAY
Sir, —“We shall not win the war until the nation is on its knees in prayer,” said Admiral Beattie in 1917. The Duke of Wellington said: “When you divorce religion from education you will create a race of devils.” Hitler has tried it with disastrous results. All our leaders have called us to prayer and already great victories have been won and the hope of an early final victory looks brighter. Mr W. M. Hughes says, “Victory over Japan will not save Australia unless the birth-rate improves. Families of three or four must be general; otherwise, we shall be pushed out by a more virile race.” Let us pray to God to open the eyes of our legislators so that they will do their best to assist the people to lead pure lives by forbidding the manufacture or sale of contraceptives or abortifacients.—Yours etc., C.
