MINOR FIRES

An electrical short-circuit caused a small fire in a tramcar on Hackthorne road yesterday. The central fire brigade was called at 4.36 p.m.. and the fire was put out with a hand extinguisher, after slight damage had been done to electrical wiring on the tram. A fire, which broke out in some packing material in the basement of R. Hannah and Company’s branch shoe store at 230 High street yesterday, caused slight damage. The central fire brigade received a call at 12.33 p.m., and extinguished the fire without difficulty.
