U.S, Airmen Honoured.—The new Greek Minister of Marine and Air (M. Soppocles Venezelos) announced that the Greek Government has conferred posthumous decorations on the United States airmen who were murdered by the Japanese for participating in the raid against Tokyo. M. Venezelos said that Greece‘will fight on against Japan after the European war is finished.— Cairo, May 9. Eire and Britain.—The need for good relations between Eire and Britain was emphasised by Mr de Valera in an election speech on behalf of a Government candidate at Limerick. Poles Shoot Gestapo Chief.—A Polish execution squad in daylight, a week ago, waylaid General Kruger, who was the Gestapo chief in Poland, and riddled him with tommy-gun bullets, says the “Sunday Express.” Kruger died some days later. His assailants escaped. Kruger was chiefly responsible for the Nazi terror in Poland. — London, May 9, Former Premier Honoured.—The King has appointed the former Premier of Northern Ireland (Mr J. M. Andrews) a member of the Order of Companions of Honour. Mr Churchill in the course of a letter to Mr Andrews stated; “During your premiership the bonds of affection between Britain and the people of Northern Ireland have been tempered by fire, and now I firmly believe that they are unbreakable.”—B.O.W, Rugby, May 9. Resident-General of Tunisia.— General Giraud has appointed General Charles Maste resident-general of Tunisia. General Maste is convalescing at Beirut after an air crash in which he was seriously injured. General Juin will act temporarily as resident-general,—London. May 9. Quintuplets Sponsor Ships.—The Dionne quintuplets sponsored five new cargo vessels at shipyards in Wisconsin to-day. The ships were built under the lend-lease agreement and will be turned over to Britain—B.O.W., Rugby, May 9. Nine Locomotives Damaged.—Flying at zero feet in poor visibility, two Canadian pilots damaged nine locomotiyes and four parked fighters in 33 minutes over northern France to-day. —London. May 9 Heavy Raid on Narvik.—A message from Stockholm states that Narvik was heavily raided on Saturday night, and fires which were started in the harbour area destroyed an ammunition dump and damaged a dock where several German ships were moored. —London, May 9.
