VENEREAL DISEASE

AUSTRALIAN GRANT FOR PREVENTION (Rec. 11.20 p.m.) MELBOURNE. May 10 A special allocation of £25,000 has been made by the Australian Federal Treasury to inaugurate a nation-wide campaign to stamp out venereal disease. This was announced to-day by the Minister of Health (Mr E. J. Holloway). Commonwealth and State health representatives will confer at Canberra next week to work out uniform plans for a campaign. The conference will be told that venereal disease is well under control among service personnel. where its incidence is decreasing. The most urgent problem is to check its spread among the civilian population.
