PRAMS ON TRAMS

Sir,—Of all suggestions offered about “Prams on Trams,” I consider the creche idea the best. But why are these creches situated at Fendalton and Riccarton, where the majority of households can and do afford a nursemaid or household help? Why can’t a creche be opened at New Brighton, Aranui, and Linwood? Also, what is there to prevent a kindergarten being opened at Aranui? It would be a great help to many mothers, and also save our prams from being damaged on trams. Town is not a suitable place to take infants and little children and no joy to harassed mothers who have to do the household shopping.—Yours, etc., „ A.R. May 7, 1943.
