INFANTILE PARALYSIS

Sir,—ln answer to your correspondent “1.J.R,” regarding the Nurse Kenny treatment. As far back as 1908, I had what is now called infantile paralysis. We lived in the country with no doctors handy. My mother wrapped me in steaming hot blankets from head to foot, repeating when cool. My mother had no training;whatever. The treatment is so simple that people fail to be impressed by such a simple cure. When the pain subsided I was cqmf pletely helpless. I was removed to Hospital, where ! was given a vigorous massage night and morning. I was left without any"' deformities whatever. This treatment was on the same principle as the Nurse Kenny treatment The records of this should be at Akaroa Hospital.—Yours, etc., HR April 6, 1943.
