WORCESTER STREET BUSES
Sir,—Might I inquire if a bus driver can discriminate which passengers he picks up? Also, does a bus sign at a half-way stop mean anything, or is a time-table of mbffeimportance than passengers? Lastly, why are more buses not available down Worcester street on Saturdays between 1.45 and 2.30 p.m., and fewer trips made between 2.30 and 4 o’clock? I am complaining because I waited for half an hour on Saturday from 2 p.m. for a bus into town. Two full buses passed and then a trolley came alone with room for three or more fares, I was the only person at this stop, and would like to know why the bus sailed past me. This is not the first time that buses have ignored passengers at this stop, when there was ample room for half a dozen persons.—Yours, etc., HALF-WAY STOP.
[“There is a frequent time-table supplied by two services which operate along Worcester street from Stanmore road,” stated Mr H. E. Jarman, general manager of the Christchurch Tramway Board, when the letter was referred to him yesterday. “Unless the bus was already filled there is no reason why the bus should not stop providing the intending passenger indicated desire to board.”]
