HONEY MARKETING
Sir, —In his remarks about the purchase of the current season’s honey the Minister of Marketing, in his reference to sugar, etc., is extremely childish. Beekeepers were in the habit of paying for these and still expect to be allowed to do so, as they concern something akin to the Minister’s bread and butter. His pathetic reference to the consumers’ rights might carry more weight if some even distribution of the remaining 30 per cent, were attempted, making sure that invalids and infants were considered first. No one should be allowed to gain financially through this war, but on the other hand it is unusual for the Government to ask anybody tp carry on at a loss; and this is going" to happen to many beekeepers.—Yours, etc., T A S. April 4. 1943.
