ANZAC DAY PARADE
ARRANGEMENTS FOR SERVICE Anzac Day will be observed in Christchurch this year in the same way as in former years. There will be a parade of former servicemen through the city to the King Edward Barracks, where a service will be held. Later wreaths will be laid on the war memorial in Cathedral square. Arrangements for the parade and service were confirmed by the executive committee of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association last evening. The parade, which will leave Cranmer square at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, will include returned men of the Ist and 2nd N.Z.E.F., former Imperial servicemen, members of the South African War Veterans Association, and Army, Navy, and Air Force detachments, headed by city bands. The service in the King Edward Barracks will begin at 2.30 p.m.; and the address will be given by Lieutenant-Colonel W. R. Lascelles.
Poppy Day this year will be held on April 16 as the nearest Friday to Anzac Day is Good Friday. Already numerous offers of help in selling poppies have been received from organisations and citizens, but further assistance is required.
