LYTTELTON NEWS
STAMP MACHINES DAMAGED The two stamp-vending machines at the Lyttelton Post Office were out of action over the week-end because of damage done by some persons in inserting matches and small pieces of metal in the slots. The postmaster (Mr C. W. Carmody) said yesterday that the machines were much in demand on Sundays, especially by men from the ships in port, and considerable inconvenience would be caused to persons requiring stamps. He bad placed the matter in the hands of the police and had also requested the schoolmasters to assist in preventing further damage.
