CARE OF DISABLED PERSONS

RUGBY, Jan. 15.

The war-time, and more especially post-war, care of all disabled persons whatever the cause or nature of their disablement is the subject of an official inter-departmental committee report which has been published. The report treats rehabilitation as a continuous service, not , solely medical, but; also., social, and. industrial. The committee recommends that the scheme should be regarded as a new social service, and that it should come to be recognised as a public obligation.

The proposals do not conflict with the Beveridge report, and the committee hopes that action on its proposals will not be delayed until a wider decision is taken on the wider issues in the Beveridge report. The Government has not adopted the proposals, but the report has been published to focus attention on the problems involved.
