ACCIDENTS
CRANE DRIVER KILLED ACCIDENT ON AUCKLAND WHARF (P.A.) AUCKLAND. January 16. A crane driver employed by the Auckland. Harbour Board, received fatal injuries this morning when a mobile crane he was driving to load a truck outside a wharf shed skidded and overturned and pinned him underneath. The victim was Mr Albert Charles Barnes, aged 44, a married man, of 81 Dryden street, Grey Lynn.
GIRL DROWNED IN DAM (P.A.) DUNEDIN, January 17. A 14-year-old girl, Mildred Wassell, daughter of Mr David Wassell, of Carson street, Dunedin, was drowned while bathing in a dam in the Taieri river at “The Reefs,” near Hindon, Central Otago. The body was recovered later.
AIR FORCE SERGEANT HURT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 16. Sergeant Clifford Marston, Royal New Zealand Air Force, broke an ankle during gunnery exercises on Thursday, and was admitted to hospital. His wife is Mrs P. L. Marston, Gisborne.
