AIR LIAISON SECTION

♦ NEW ARMY UNIT FORMED An Air Liaison Section has been formed by the Army in the South Island to work with the Army Co-opera-tion Squadron of the Air Force. The squadron's role is aerial reconnaissance for the Army, and the duty of the new section will be to convey to the pilots the detailed nature of each assignment given them and to transmit the information to the Army. The section, which will consist of two officers and seven other ranks, has been given special training. The members will have their quarters at an aerodrome used by the Army Co-oper-ation Squadron. The establishment of this section follows closely the setting up of Air Support Control at an Army headquarters in the South Island. Air Support Control is concerned with the liaison between the Army and the operational fighter and bomber forces of the Air Force. An additional link between the Army and Air Force is provided by Combined Operational Headquarters, where all the services have their representatives.
