FIRE BRIGADES’ CONTEST
GREYMOUTH TEAM WINS Teams from the West Coast fire brigades numbering 42 men competed against the Addington Railway Workshops Brigade on Saturday. The shield was won by Greymouth Railway with 13 points, Addington Railways being second with HJ points, Cobden third with 9 points, and Greymouth Central fourth with 8i points. Following were the results:— Four men motor flag event: Greymouth Railway (time, 10 2-ssec) 1, Cobden A (time, 23 1-Ssec) 2, Addington B (time, 24sec) 3. Two men straight dry hose: Addington B (time, 28sec) 1. Greymouth Central (time, 28 4-ssec) 2, Addington A (time, 29 2-ssec) 3. Three-men dry hose and standpipe Cobden B (time, 19 3-ssec) 1, Greymouth Central A (time, 22 3-Ssec) 2, Greymouth Railway B (time, 22 4-Ssec) 3. Two-man hose and sandplpe, wet: Greymouth Railway B (45 l-ssec) 1, Addington Railway B (46 2-ssec) 2, Cobden A (47sec) 3.
