BIGGEST LOAN IN WORLD
U.S. BORROWING FOR WAR WASHINGTON, Nov. 20. Rising war costs are forcing the United States Treasury to borrow 90,000,000,000 dollars in December. This is the largest borrowing operation ever undertaken in the world, declared the Secretary of the Treasury (Mr Henry Morgenthau) at a press conference. He added that 344,000 salesmen are soliciting war bonds and are trying to add at least 9,000,000 more regular bond buyers.
