PATRIOTIC GYMKHANA
SUCCESSFUL EFFORT AT RANGIORA To assist in raising the district’* quota for the Patriotic Fund a gymkhana and carnival were held at Dudley Park, Rangiora, on Saturday afternoon. About the hour that the gymkhana was to commence (1 p.m.) the weaither ' was threatening and ’ later, there was a shower of rain, but the weather cleared and the afternoon was fine. A large crowd gathered from the borough and district and found plenty of entertainment and amusement. In addition to numerous sideshows and stalls there were novelty events and sports for children. The crowd entered into the spirit of the carnival and spent money freely, so that the fund, should be considerably augmented. In the evening an additional attraction was a dance, under the auspices of the Rangiora Ladies’ Physical Culture Hockey Club, held in the Returned Services’ Hall.
