DELIVERIES OF GROCERIES
* NEED FOR REDUCTION EMPHASISED That a large reduction in grocers’ deliveries in the city would have to be made was indicated yesterday by the South Island zoning officer (Mr T. H. Langford). Mr Langford said that this was apparent from data supplied by the grocers. A summary prepared from the data, he said, showed the number of grocers serving the various districts (the number of times a week varying) to be:— Lyttelton, 4; Sumner, Redcliffs, Scarborough, Monck’s Spur. Monck’s Bay, Mount Pleasant, 8; Halswell, Hillmorten, Somerfield. Ladbrooks, Tai Tapu. Prebbleton, 3; Riccarton, 14; Spreydon, 24; Woolston, 16; Addington, 11; St. Martins, Beckenham, Hillsborough, 11; Cashmere, 6; Sydenham, 10; Healhcote, Heathcote Valley, and Avoca Valley, 5; Opawa, Waltham, and Radley, 12; St. Albans. Merivale, 19; Harewood and Styx, 6; Papanui, 12; Belfast, 1; Fendalton and Bryndwr, 9; Linwood and Avonside, 21; Bromley, 3; Dallington, Shirley, Burwood, Marshland, 11; City and Richmond, 14; Brighton and North Beach. 5; Aranui, Wainoni, Bexley, and Sandilands, 2; Yaldhurst. Middleton, Sockburn, 2; and Islington and Hornby, 3.
