JUVENILE DELINQUENCY
STATEMENT CORRECTED A statement made by the chairman (the Rev. J. A. Alien) during Wednesday’s debate on moral delinquency at the North Canterbury Methodist District Synod was corrected yesterday by the Rev. Raymond Dudley. Mr Allen had stated that the report of the Moral Reform Committee had been based on figures supplied by a man who had investigated the problem over a period of years. “Though the chairman was reported correctly,” said Mr Dudley, “such was not actually th , case. Long before the controversy arose over this question the committee had decided that this information was not scientifically or statistically acceptable.” The chairman: The statement was my own. I did not happen to be a member of the sub-committee, so that would account for the slight inaccuracy creeping into my statement. ___
