MEN CALLED FOR SERVICE
# TOTALS FOR MILITARY DISTRICTS The latest call-up for military service brings the total number of Canterbury names gazetted to 39,703, but a small proportion of the men were called up first for territorial service and then for overseas service at the time when separate ballots were held. The Canterbury total is second only to that of Auckland, in which area 46,326 names have been gazetted. The total for the Wellington area is 35,065.
