HYDATID MENACE

* VIEWS OF WAIMATE FARMERS “People are poor citizens if they cannot dose their dogs, but the main thing is the boiling of offal,” said Mr H. J. C. Harper at a meeting of the Waimate Agricultural and Pastoral Association, when ’steps taken to combat the hydatid menace were discussed. Mr Harper said it was little use dosing a dog and then feeding him a raw pluck. The regulations were ignored, and it seemed that inspectors would be necessary to enforce them. Speaking of the proposal to dose dogs quarterly instead of issuing the remedy to owners. Mr A. W. J. Robinson said the -work could be done by county rangers. Mr R. Sinclair said this suggestion was an excellent one, although impracticable at present because of the petrol position. Members agreed that the publicity given the subject had been, valuable, and Mr A J. Mcßae was thanked for bringing the matter under the notice of the association.
