BIRD POISONING

Sir,—l was glad to read Mona Gordon’s letter in defence of the birds, and wish to endorse every word. Some years ago there was a plague of caterpillars in Ashburton (I believe), and many people attributed this to the wholesale slaughter of wild birds. If millions of crawling things sweep over South Canterbury the farmers will know the reason.—Yours, etc., PITIFUL. August 14. 1942.
